WHAT IS FACIAL CONTOURING?

We can slim down the appearance of our faces thanks to the help of smart facial shaping techniques achieved through makeup. Today I will be sharing some quick simple methods to sculpting the face.

NOSE
To make your nose appear longer and more even, apply contour down the side of your nose.  It might be best to use an eyeshadow brush for this. Then apply highlight along the top of your nose. If you have a long nose, applying contour just under the tip can make it appear shorter. Stay concise with your applications.

CHEEKBONES
Whether you want to make your face look slimmer or you want to play up already defined cheekbones, contouring is a great technique to bring out your bone structure. Here is a fresh way to enhance your cheekbones.

STEPS
1) Use a small tapered blush brush to sweep a mauve or tawny blush from the apple of your cheeks up toward your hairline.
2) To make the hollows of your cheek look deeper, sweep a sheer bronzer directly under the blush. You can also make a "fish face" and place the bronzer in the center of the are that is sucked in.
3) Dust a shimmery nude highlighter along the tops of your cheekbones.
4) Blend, blend and blend! use a clean blush brush to blend the outer edges of all the makeup so that the effect gradually fades away.

CHIN
For a small, thin chin, apply highlighter to the center of the chin, directly under the center of the lip. To minimize a double chin, apply bronzer along the jaw line and blend it down, towards your neck. This creates depth and helps to strengthen the jaw line. You should always apply contouring color on neck to your shirt line to avoid a "mask" look.

FOREHEAD
You can add a little highlight on the center of the forehead so it looks less flat. It also helps to make the face look slimmer. Using a fluffy brush, blend out your contoured and highlighted areas in circular buffing motions. Afterwards, set with a little translucent powder and you are set to go.

NEW YORK COLOR MAKEUP

INDIVIDUAL EYES (BROWN EYES) SMOKIN

This is a nice compact kit that came with 4 eye shadows ( one highlighter, one all over lid and two crease contour shadows), primer base and illuminator. I find that the shadows apply smoothly and they are well pigmented. The colors are buildable, you can get a soft smokey look or a full one if you want. The shadows go well with each other. They last a pretty good amount of time. The primer works well also and it makes the shadow last. The primer is a thicker formula which I like because I have oily lids. The highlighter, I'm not a big fan, too shimmery for me. But everything else I love. And best of al its only $4.99 dollars. I like that  it's easy to throw in my purse and go out! This is all I need for a quick makeup on the go. Plus I like how you don't have to guess at anything since it has directions on it.

NEW YORK COLOR MAKEUP (NYC)

NYC LIP PRODUCTS

APPLELICIOUS GLOSSY LIP BALM IN BIG APPLE RED

I like that it feels and actually looks more like a lipstick but with the ease of a balm and gloss in one. This lip balm is very pigmented. It has a sheer color that brightens up my natural lip tone and it leaves a nice red tint. Inexpensive yet a quality alternative to the more expensive lip balms, lip butters, etc. I like this. The apple lip balm center and color surrounding it is a cute design, and they are really moisturizing. I don't need any other lip balm before using or alongside them. I like that if it has any flavor I can't taste it. It's packaged so you can toss it in your purse and go. Though the color faded fast, it kept a lip tint effect on my lips throughout the entire day and kept my lips nice and plump. It has a nice appley smell. I will say the color lasts about 1 or 2 hours. This is a Great spring/summer and affordable product!

NYC SMOOCH PROOF LIP STAIN 16H IN SMOOCH PROOF

I have no idea why I have never tried these before! It has amazing pigmentation (so dark!) and it stays on for a long time. It is more moist than the others lip stains I have tried before, matte finish. It has a good staying power, I would say not really 16 hours but I applied it at 8:30 a.m. and when I got home around 5:00 p.m. I could still see a hint of it. This lasted through a meal and drinking. Smells fruity. It layers to a very vibrant color, but a few swipes provide a perfect glowy fuchsia-red/pink. Let it dry for 30 seconds, throw some lipgloss or balm over it and you have a nice color that does last for a number of hours. I love the sharp point that makes outlining the lips a breeze, no lip pencil needed. It's perfect for your beach tote or purse and is easy to apply, zero transferring and the price cannot be beat.

TIP
If you store your lipstain marker standing up it will keep the ink in the bottom and will keep it from drying out.
